Response to frog dissection lab

Wow! When I walked into my science class and learned about our digestive system, I thought that because we are the most complex system no one has the same intricate system. Little did I know that we were about digest two bodies that similar body parts to us. The frog as seen to the right has all the major parts as the human, seen to the right of the frog. The disegtion of anything starts with the espohagus. Both bodies have this. The most important part of the digestion system is the small intestine and stomach. The frog shares this with the human as seen to the right. I was shocked to find this out because the frog is a primitive system. Even as though that may be, the frogs share many organs with us. Sure there are some differences with both systems, but all in all the two bodies are very similar. This absolutely blew my mind. When my group and I started to create the first incision I was surpised to find out how easy it is to cut their skin. As we continued to cut and explore our specimen I became more relaxed and soon I did not care when frog juice squirted on my hand. When we took out the stomach I was very happy to see that their was a piece of food in the stomach. Unfourtanetly, our frog had waste products still lodged in the large intestine. That was disgusting. But all in all, I found this lab to be most informative. I have learned that we are not so different to many organisms. Although their bodies may be primitive, they are like ours.

Digestion Lab

In this lab my classmates and I used the actual acid in our stomach called hydrolic acid. The purpose of this lab was to figure out what combination of digestive juices would break down the egg whites the quickest. Beakers C and D digested the egg whites the quickest. Beaker C only had hydrolic acid and Beaker D had enzymes and hydrolic acid. Now Beaker C broke down the food just a bit quicker, but I thought Beaker D would break down the food quicker because stomach has enzymes and hydrolic acid. This was our Digestion Lab.

Chicken Wing Lab Dissection

This lab's purpose was to show how the muscles work. I learned that the muscles work by making one muscle contract while the other relaxes. Our science teacher showed us this by dissecting a chicken wing. Another purpose of this lab was to show how our body also works. The chicken is very similar to our arm. We have bicep and tricep muscles, and chickens have the same thing. We have cartlidge between the bones and so does chickens. I was not expecting the chicken to have almost the same parts as us humans. The only difference between the two is that a chicken wing is smaller and basically a miny size. This was our chicken wing lab dissection
